sugar water before shots?

I haven't looked this up yet & I'm going to ask the nurse when she calls me back about something else. But I was wondering what you ladies knew/heard about giving DC sugar water to help with shots & pain?

My mom said she read online that it helps. Off to google....

    in the NICU I worked at they would dip pacifiers in sugar water and give to the babies before shots and blood draws

    I don't know what sugar water is supposed to do before shots but I choose not to give my baby sugar.  We also made sure the nurses at the hospital knew not to give him sugar in the nursery when he was born.

     To be honest, I just don't see how sugar water is going to help them with the shots but I have not researched this, it's just my opinion.

    Pedi told us to give 0.6 mL of infant Tylenol drops right before shots... good luck.  I hate taking DD to get her shots :(
