Babies: 0 - 3 Months

how did you lose your pregnancy weight?

I breast fed for the first month, then because of DD's severe reflux EP'd until she was 3 1/2 months.  then we found out she had a milk protein allergy so we stopped bfeeding and now she is on Neocate.

I have been on the elliptical and have done "the shred" but have only lost about 8 pounds.  I eat oatmeal and coffee for bfast, a salad and some fruit for lunch, and a normal dinner.  I might have a snack a couple times a week and on the weekends we usually go out to dinner.

what else can i be doing?  I have severe joint pain in my legs and am going to the doctor in a couple weeks.  they say it might be the onset of rhuematoid arthritis.

any advice and suggestions and experiences are helpful, TIA

  • It sounds like you might not be getting enough calories. To exercise, you need to fuel your body, and it doesn't look like you get enough. Of course, by "salad" you could mean "tuna salad with mayo" or "a bowl of plain spinach" so I don't know.

  • Are you drinking plenty of water? I always had fruit with every meal. I think that eating a lot of fruit and veggies kick start your metabolism.

  • I still have about 5 lbs to go, but I am just trying to eat really healthy. I am EPing so I still need to keep my calories up, but I try to make them very heathly calories. Lots of lean proteins and limited carbs when I can.
  • I go to the gym 3 times a week

  • To be honest, I did absolutely nothing and I am now 2lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight.

  • You might also try to vary your workout routine. The elliptical is good, but if you add in some classes, resistance training or other cardio, you can challenge different muscles and burn more calories. And like the PP, it helped not to get hung up on calories in food, but stick more to healthy foods - lean meats, fruits, veggies, whole grains.
  • I haven't lost all my pregnancy weight, (still have 10 lbs to go), but I just wanted to add that you need to switch up your exercise routine in order to shock your muscles and get them to work harder.
