Baby sounds changing

My neary 4 mo old seems to "coo" less than he did a few weeks ago.  He makes sound - grunting, etc., but he doesn't respond specifically in a coo in response to us, but he does smile, laugh, etc. in response.  Just wondered if anyone had similar or different experiences around this age range.  Thanks in advance for sharing.

My DD is younger but her coos have slowed down a little and she is doing this whisper thing.

My DS has started grunting. Like when he rolls on his belly and wants to roll back over..he grunts. I wish he would coo instead it would sound nicer, but whatever!!!
