have a neighbor's daughter who i might hire to come over after school every once in a while and hang out with my 4mo while i get stuff done around the house. i am pretty sure this would be her first job. what would you think a good pay rate would be?
Re: rate for 12yo mother's helper?
I think my friend pays her mother's helper $10/hour. I wouldn't pay less bc her age. It's the same job.
I would find out what people pay in your neighborhood.
you all need to come to my neighborhood - the girl down the street only charges like $3/hour for 2 kids being a mother's helper ;P
I pay her and her sister $8/hour to come watch my DD for us, but we really don't use them often. They come over and play with DD just for the heck of it sometimes.
We have gotten them some gift cards and stuff along the way
We usully give our 11 YO neighbor about 4-5$ an hour. She can't handle him with me out of the house yet, and I don't consider her to be doing nearly the same job as the real sitter who we pay 10$ an hour (W.'s DC teacher who has an EC degree).
