How long for nebulizer to work?

DS has been doing nebulizer treatments since Friday, and his cough still sounds horrible. I could still hear him wheezing a bit last night too. He's going back on Tuesday for a recheck, but do you think I should call tomorrow instead? How long does it take for this to work?

is it any better at all since friday? ?when I need a nebulizer treatment it usually works fairly quickly and I rarely need to use it more than twice. ?why is your DS using it. I use mine for asthma.?

I would definitely call tomorrow.?

I would definitely call ASAP if you still hear wheezing. ?I hope your little one feels better soon!

Thanks ladies. He's been doing it four times a day and his cough isn't any better. His nose isn't really running anymore, but it sounds like it's all moved into his chest.

if it isn't any better I'd call the doctor now. you should be seeing some definite improvement. poor little guy! hope he's feeling better soon!?

His dr. is closed today. Should I take him to a walk-in clinic? They have one nearby, but I'm not crazy about it.

Does you Dr have an on call line?  Try that first.  Call the office number and see if they have a number that will connect you to the doctor on call.

 I just did this. She called back and said to increase the treatments and to bring him in tomorrow. His wheezing isn't constant -- just now and then, so she said to wait another day. Thanks for all of your help!

I don't know but I NEED ONE! I'm sitting here trying to breathe in the steam from a cup of boiling water, not quite the same!

Call your doc---they will have a service and can page your doc or the doc covering so you can talk to them.  And if you think that your DS should be seen by a doctor tell them!!  if they aren't open then they should give you the ok to go to the ER.  My DD morgan was just in the Pedi ICU for 2 nights---she got a cold, started wheezing, nebs didn't help, we went to the ER and sooner than i knew it we were in the ICU---scary!  She started having a cough on Christmas Eve and we were in the ER on Christmas Day at 5pm.  I really didn't "think" that she was that sick....but i guess i was wrong, and i am an RN!!  She was acting perfectly fine even being so sick--poor thing!  

She is great today, we were discharged yesterday, and you would never have known how sick she was, but i am so glad that i took her to the ER when did.

Call them---better safer to have your DS seen today then waiting another 24 hours.  I am sure he will be fine....i don't mean to scare you, just thought that if would help!!  Let us know what happens!
