Any recs on reflux and sleeping?

DC has very bad reflux and it seems to come and go throughout the day and night.  It is so bad that we can smell it on his breath (we are calling the pedi tomorrow about increasing his meds).  Last night he would not sleep laying down or in the bouncer.  I had to sit on the couch and hold him somewhat upright most of the night.  We tried him in his crib which is elevated at a 30 degree angle and the bouncer with no success.  Any recommendations on how to get him to sleep laying somewhat flat or another option for sleeping?TIA!

Re: Any recs on reflux and sleeping?

  • Our G.I. specialist has us putting Jax on his LEFT side on the incline. If you could wedge the baby in there with towels or a positioner it would work, just make sure to have something on the bottom of him so he doesn't slide down.

The left side empties your tummy the fastest and feels the best for GERD babies. Hope this helps!?

  •   I hadn't heard of  that, we will give it a try. Thank you!  Are you seeing a GI specialist because of GERD?
  • YES! Both my babies have reflux, but the smaller one was actually re-hospitalized for failure to thrive due to extreme GERD. We are in contact with his specialist's office weekly!

He had a g-tube placed because he refused the bottle so bad. He's gained a ton of weight since then (thankfully). His problem is constant heaving/vomiting from GERD. He was on Reglan (to help empty his stomach faster) and is still on Prevacid. His brother is on Prevacid (but he gets that prescribed from the pedi since he doesn't have weight issues due to GERD).

My babies get attacks. Like suddenly formula will pour out of their nose/mouth and they'll scream in pain until its over...its hard to deal with...I can't wait for them to grow out of it!?
