What do you do with you 5 week old when he is awake?

Cole is being awake during the day a lot more now. He is not interested in his swing or bouncy. He is not yet interested in any of his toys except one that lights up. I have read stories to him, let him flail around on his play mat, we do a bath every night just for lack of other things to do and because he likes it. We sing and dance with him. What else can you do with them during waking hours at this age?

Baby massage and talk to him.  It is hard to keep them occupied.  It sounds like you are doing a good job.

Your list sounds like mine.  I'll also say that she LOVES "watching" TV.  We noticed that a few weeks ago, so I'll sometimes play her Baby Einstein DVDs and sit there with her to comment on all the pretty colors and toys.  She'll enjoy this for about 8-10 minutes.  We also prop her on our Boppy to play with her activity mat.

Ditto everyone else.  I also sing to him all the time, play "bounce the baby" where I gently bounce him up and down while I hold him, and things like that.  They love to "talk" to  you!

Talk to him, walk with him around the house, sing, coo over him while he's laying on our bed, read a book, massage, bath, he loves musical toys so I hold them out for him to look at and listen to.
