Rec your thermometer

dd has had a temp today, I'm all alone, and had to take it rectally several times. Please rec. your therm. I was looking online and saw temporal ones and infrared, and wondered if they actually work.

Re: Rec your thermometer

  • When DD was sick, I used the temporal one initially to see if she really had a temp.  Then, when that one said she did, I took it under her arm with a digital--that's what the nurse at my ped's office suggested I do, and then said to add 1 degree.  She hates the under-arm thing, but if I can do the temporal first as a guideline, that saves the number of times I have to actually do it to her.

it's nice! and it automatically adjusts for wherever you are taking the temp.

  • We have this one. I take it rectally every time.  It's really nice because it flashes green if it's NORMAL, yellow if its a LOW GRADE fever, and red if it's a FEVER.
