Okay, I am starting to wean. I feel extremely guilty about it and have been in tears off and on since yesterday (when we started). I will be traveling out of the country in about a month and just won't be able to continue to pump for 6 weeks while I am gone. (don't worry, I am having an entirely different set of guilts about being gone)
In order to appease my guilt I need to know that I am giving my babies the very best formula that is out there. After doing research on the internet, it appears that there really isn't one.
So ladies of my life, what is out there that is good? I know nothing compares to what they have had for the last 8 months but I want to come close.
Guess it is time to change my ticker.
Re: Is there a "best" formula out there?
OMG- your sig pics are too cute!
Formulas are all pretty much the same- even down to the generic ones... Some babies do better on certain formulas rather than others- but it's not b/c of the formula being worse - it's just b/c some babies tummies prefer one or the other.
My DS actually did BETTER on formula than breast milk - he had much less refulx and gas issues... helped me not feel guilty
We used the Target version of Enfamil - and any free enfamil i could get my hands on. Worked great for him.
We started out on brand Enfamil then went to Enfamil gentlease. Now we use the generic brand on Enfamil gentlease. The boys had some major gas issues in the beginning so we decided to try the gentlease and it has worked well for us. We have tried the Target version and the Kroger version and are happy with both. The generic versions actually seem to mix easier than the brand. Our pedi recommended Enfamil or Similac from the beginning or any generic forms of either.
By the way, I LOVE you pictures! They are sooo cute
Good luck with everything. It is amazing how long you were able to continue breastfeeding!
Don't have any advice, but just wanted to say, I am in the same boat. Well, not the EXACT same boat (not leaving the country but am thinking it is time to wean and have been really upset about it.
It seems that I have a clogged duct at least every other day if not every day. I had never had one the whole time until two weeks ago and now they are non stop, and it is just so hard. I feel like my body is telling me to stop. I don't even know where to start with weaning and I just feel so guilty about it. I am very conflicted and still don't know what to do.
Sorry for my rambling, just wanted to let you know you are not alone, I feel the same way, hang in there.
I EP and use Walmart Sensitive formula. We tried out a few different kinds, and that is what worked best for us. I will agree with others, it mixes much easier.?
Great job with bfing so long. You are awesome!?

Hey there - sorry you are going through guilt issues. You've made it so far - be proud of what you accomplished!
Do you have a stash for them to use up while you are gone? If not, I'd highly recommend calling your pedi and / or getting them on formula BEFORE your trip. Like at least 2 - 3 weeks before. As a PP mentioned, there are lots of different types of formulas and it can take awhile to get the hang of what works best for your kids.
That being said, I'd go with Similac Advance or Enfamil (whatever their standard milk-based formula is called). Those are the lion share of what most kids are on. We use Similac Advance. Good luck!
Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!
Goldie is a smart lady. Ditto this exactly.

At three months, we went to WM brand gentle. Also, your ped will get samples of formula and gladly hand them out!
