1st Trimester

ugh...I couldn't hold back...

I know this is bad, but I am really trying to tell myself that it's going to be what it's going to be and me being excited or buying anything isn't going to change anything, right??? I just never thought I'd be here right now and so I can't help but be so excited...

So when I was shopping with my mom we bought the cutest, softest little newborn pants made out of bamboo and a knit onepiece outfit that's chocolate brown with a powder blue star on the chest. Sooooooo premature...but I couldn't help it.  Hopefully that got it out of my system for now :)  They were 50% off which made it much easier to "need".

Has anyone else cracked and bought anything?

Re: ugh...I couldn't hold back...

  • Yep actually the DH and I found a few sleepers yesterday that were 50% off, so we couldn't resist. They are so adorable and hanging in the closet of the soon to be nursery!!

  • Nope.  I haven't bought anything yet...too nervous.  But maybe I will after my ultrasound on Monday!

  • We actually bought a few things while we were TTC, either things we loved and couldn't resist (and didn't want to risk being discontinued before we got PG), or things that were discounted too much to pass up.

We also have a whole closet already full of hand-me-down's from my sister and my boss. EEK.

  • I've only bought a few books. We were at Target today, and I almost cracked, such adorable baby everything!! I think we'll wait until after the first appt in 3 weeks. My mom is an incredible knitter, she's started on a baby blanket, does that count? lol!!

  • :) I feel better now.

I know it's still so early for me, and many of us, but at the same time this is just so exciting for me right now when I've been so down about this for so long - it would almost feel weird NOT to celebrate you know?

I agree with the things that are really special or whatnot...I probably wouldn't buy anything I couldn't always get, but at special baby shops where things come and go as the seasons change (and things are on sale!) I think that might be a little different. But I'm not going to go too crazy.

I also bought things when we were TTC, a little onesie that says "100% organic" b/c I couldn't risist that if you know me ;) and then our first cycle with Clomid where I was "certain it will work!" I bought a pack of onesies.

  • I bought a little onesie yesterday that said, "Daddy and I agree - Mommy's the boss," and a couple little finger puppets. That was my first baby purchase since the BFP, although I've gotten tons of stuff for the baby from my family - they aren't as nervous as I am.

  • No, I haven't bought anything yet. Just some pregnancy books.

My BFF sent me a couple onesies and her mom bought me a couple maternity shirts. Other than that - nothing. I figure I have plenty of time!

  • After I had my ultrasound, I bought a few small things. I don't want a shower so I want to start stocking up little by little so we don't have to buy everything in a short period of time.

  • Hey. I say if it's on sale it's fair game.

  • We made a rule not to buy anything until we know what we are having.  We did however start the babies library . . . we've been buying books like "The Giving Tree," "Guess How Much I Love You", etc.  We have like 10 books already . . .

My parents got the first actual baby gift too!  My aunt sent them a "Grandparents Starter Kit" filled with diapers, ointments, bathtime supplies, burpy cloths, etc.  It was such a kick!

  • The day after we got our BFP my H and I bought a changing table at Goodwill. It was pretty irresistable at $15 and looking like new! We told ourselves that if this one didn't stick we would be TTC again anyway so we felt it was a good purchase.
  • With my first, we waited until we knew the sex, but I had also had a m/c before her.   So, it took me a while to let myself connect.  Enjoy yourself and congratulations!
