Acupunture and herbs?

Hi First Tri!

I am a frequent GP poster as my DH and I are TTC ( currently cycle 4 in 2WW) and wanted to find out from all of you who have had success, if any of you used acupunture and/or chinese herbs?  My dear friend is a community acupuncturist and of course she highly recommends treatments.

Any feedback? THANKS YOU!

Re: Acupunture and herbs?

  • Yes! I did and I firmly believe that's what "fixed" me. I had SUPER long (150+ day cycles). Read "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis. It's a great book. I also saw an accupuncturist.

I don't know. It just made a lot more sense to me to work with my body instead of forcing it with the drugs my OB wanted to give me. I was all better within 2 cycles. Good luck!

  • There's a similar post on BOTB right now so I'll just C&P what I wrote there:

I did take herbs and I think they helped. I took vitex which helps balance menstrual cycles according to what I found. There have been a lot of studies on it and it is proven to help- especially with short luteal phases or very long cycles. Doctors in Europe usually prescribe it before prescribing clomid because it's gentle and very effective. I also took a small amount of B6 throughout my whole cycle. I took evening primrose oil up until O to increase CM production and drank red raspberry leaf tea.

  • I definitely believe in it.  I have PCOS and did 3 rounds of Clomid and was to meet with a new RE in Jan. to start some more invasive things b/c I wasn't ovulating. I started acupuncture and herbs Oct 31 and yesterday I got my BFP! It's still really early, but I am just so thankful and totally believe in that stuff and I'mhoping for the best!

Should have read the entire thread first...I totally ditto this entire post. I really wanted to at least TRY to "fix' things instead of just slapping a band aid on them, unless I absolutely had to.

  • another pcos'er who loved acupuncture. unfortunately, it was too expensive but it still really helped!!! not a big fan of the herbs, though.
  • Thank you, ladies! I think my DH and I will likely give it a try!
