What do you think of Kendon for a boy? Pronounced as Kenden. Similar to how the end of Brandon is pronounced, even though it is spelled with an "o" instead of an "e".
DH's father's name is Ken (Kenneth) and my father's name is Don (Donald). We thought of Kendon as a nice way to use both names and give our child a more up-to-date name. I realize it is a made up name, but over the years it has been growing on both of us and now that we are actually expecting, I wanted to get some outside input.
It would probably be Kendon Matthew.
Thanks
Re: Yes, it is a "made up" name
While I am not a huge fan of made of names, this one does not make me shudder. I think it is "normal" enough sounding.
I agree with pp that it's not horrible, but I think it's really close to Kenton, and your kid will have to correct people his whole life.
It's also a candy company, a motorcycle trailer manufacturer, and an antique store (after a quick Google search).
I really like it! Although, I'm a fan of unique names. DD's name is myriad of some old fashioned names from different cultures and everyone loves her name. I would def use it! You may regret it if you don't. And why are you asking other's advice? There will always be people who don't like it. Who cares what they think? We opted not to tell a soul until she was born, and we're glad. My older bro used the name "Cayman" for their DD and they didn't tell anyone. When she was born, we were like, "What?" But we love it now, it's unique, and she soooo def a Cayman. GL!!!
I really like this. I also like Kendon - I don't think it sounds made up at all. I also like that it tied to family.

Thanks for the input ladies. I had never thought of googling it before; that's funny. At least its not a porta-potty company or anything negative like that.
We find out the sex of the baby in 2 weeks (hopefully) so we will see if Kendon is still an option then. The funny thing is that I usually like more traditional, yet seldom heard names, like Wesley or Willem, not made up or super trendy names. I think that we have been talking about it for so many years now that it seems more normal and not trendy. We will see.
Its NMS, but I like it especially with the explanation.
Most made up names sound crazy I think, but I really like the name Kendon and it has great meaning for you so I would go for it.
I like it! & it has meaning! Plus, it's a chance for your son to have his own name! I did that with my daughter's name Amerie (AM-mah-ree)Some say it (AM-mer-ee) either way all the same. But it's not Anne-Marie. My middle name is Marie so switch the M & A and add an E! I say go for it! He deff won't be 12 Aiden/Caiden/Jaiden's in his class!
I am very much against made up names, and I really like this one. ?Made up names often sound cutesy, but this is dignified and masculine. ?It doesn't make me fear for his future job interviews. ?It's simple to pronounce based on the spelling, and you have a good reason for it. ?There's a good chance of him being a Kenny at some point, if that bothers you.
Thank you all so much! You guys rock! I knew I would get some mixed reactions (as I would if I said "what do you think of Michael?") so I wasn't surprised with the negative ones, but the numerous positive ones really make me feel much more confident with the name. I realize that all that really matters is that we like it, but it is nice to have reassurance that our child is not going to be made fun of and embarassed by the name we choose for him/her. I would hate to be responsible for putting our kid through torture because of a name.
Ditto: it's NMS, but if I were going to use it, I think it's much better as a MN.?
I like it!It doesn't sound "made-up".
My sister is pg with a girl and she is mixing our moms name and her MIL's name together. Mary + Rebecca = Maricca (Ma-REE-ka). Nms, but I like the idea of mixing the moms names. If I did that it would be Rebecca + Carolyn = Carecca or Beccalyn lol. HORRID!

That is an excellent point. I don't think made up names are a good idea in general. I agree that if you're really set on it, it should be the middle name.
Did you know that Marika (sp?) is a Dutch name? It was one of our contenders when trying to incorporate DD's 7 ethnicities into her name. We only ended up with German (1st name), Dutch (2nd name) and Dutch last name. GL!
I vote that you should win some sort of Bumpie award for the longest, most intriguing siggy! LOL!!!
