zantac making it worse? Nestie drs come in!

Between that and the rice cereal, DD seems to be spitting up more and sleeping less than before she was diagnosed with reflux. Last night she "threw up" in her crib, probably what is equal to about 2-3 oz of liquid. She has no fever and isn't acting sick though. She has been on the meds for 5 days

Do you think its the wrong med for her? I am going to stop the cereal to see if that helps also.

She went from waking up 3-4 hours after she went down, to now 1-2 hrs after.

  • Sometimes the rice cereal can make it worse- b/c it keeps the milk in the stomach longer so there is more time to throw it up. i would keep doing the zantac b/c that can take a few days to really start working and maybe stop the cereal.

  • my DD started zantac at 2 months, she is now a week shy of 5, at first it was the same thing, spitting up 3 times the amount that she was already spitting up, but after a week or so it went back to her normal spitting (still way too much).  I was told by both her pedi and GI specialist that the spitting up aspect of reflux peaks btw 4 and 6 months, so maybe she's just peaking and the timing is coincidental, i have no idea, just wanted to share my experience.

I also noticed about 2 weeks ago, at 4.5 months that her spitting was really, really bad again for about a week, but the past week or so it's been much improved, we even took the bib off for more than 5 minutes at a time for the past couple of days, this is big!
