If I had a girl... I just think it's tacky when I see a baby with earrings. ?I would wait until she was ready and she asked me if she could get them pierced.
funny that you mention this tonight..i was just talking about this with dh and my mom. ive been kinda on the fence about it, actually saw an adorable little baby the other night with her ears pierced and my friends baby has them pierced.
well my mom had my sister's ears pierced when she was a baby and regretted it afterwards that she took them right out. she said she felt bad and that her baby was so innocent and didn't need earrings in her ears and she was beautiful the way she was. she felt bad i guess and i have a feeling that would happen to me if i decided to do it. idk..but i do know that id make sure a doctor did it over anyone else
oh i thought i heard some weird things that can happen too..the earlobes grow and then the spot where the hole is looks weird?

4 Months and I do not regret it at all. I can count on my hand the number of baby girls I know that did NOT get their ears pierced as an infant. I never heard negativity regarding baby ear piercings until I joined this board.
My mother made me wait until I was 13 years old, and I will be having the same rule for my daughter.
I think any non-necessary body modifiction should be the sole decision and responsibilty of the individual. Plus, I agree with the above posters- earrings on an infant is just trashy.
m/c 9/22/07 at 8w5d...BFP 12/23/07! DD born 9/4/2008,
BFP 2/14/13...DS born 10/22/2013
Why would I ever put my DD through that??!?! She's a BABY!!!!! It's not like she cares if her ears look "pretty" -- plus I'd be terrified of infection or an earring falling out and being a choking hazard.
I got mine done when I was 4 after begging my mom for months. I still remember how much it hurt. But at least I understood why it hurt and I knew it was my own choice.?
When DD is old enough to ask for it, we'll begin discussing it. Until then I plan to let her be a BABY!!!!?
I think the answers to your question may also depend on the parent's background/culture. I come from West Africa where all baby girls have their ears?pierced?within a few months of their birth. I plan to pierce my daughter's ears as soon as her pediatrician says it's fine.

No way! She will get it done when she is much older. (10?)
I even have a pair of diamond studs that were a gift for her from my jeweler... and I refuse to pierce those ears!
I personally... don't like it. And I know of only ONE person who's child had her ears done under 2.
