Who decided this? My pedi has never said this, for the record, but I have seen it here on numerous occasions.
It doesn't make sense...if you put the baby down at 10 PM and s/he wakes up at 3 that's really considered STTN? Hmmmmmm...
I post this because DS has done this a couple nights in a row (5 hours straight), and I was just thinking that doesn't seem right.
Re: Why is 5 hours considered STTN?
my DD woke at 630 yesterday morning and both MH and i thought it was the middle of the night lol
i hear what you are saying tho... DD doesnt go to bed until 12 or 1, and sleeps til 6... i dont consider that thru the night
I put F to bed about when I go to bed. Since I am used to getting to work at 6am, 5 to 6 hours is my normal sleep time, so I consider it STTN. If she gets 5 hours from 7pm to midnight or something, then I don't take it as STTN because I don't sleep at that time. We are up to 7 to 8 hour stretches now, so she is actually sleeping more than I am most of the time. I hope yours continues with the 5 hours and keeps going for longer and longer as time goes by.
So Tasty, So Yummy

If that's true, then DD sttn since birth. She only ever woke once at night since we brought her home.
I think maybe everyone has their own definition of this. I considered sttn when I actually sttn and didn't have to get up. lol
