1st Trimester

gas

so i feel like im going to get made fun of for this but i am having a hard time determining if its gas or cramping that i should be concerned about. I really think its just gas from all the holiday food but is there a point of pain that I should be concerned about. I am just uncomfortable. any suggestions?

Re: gas

  • The way I usually tell the difference is the gas pains are accompanied by actual gas - sometimes a few minutes later. If you never have the gas, it's probably cramps. Either way, it's probably fine as long as you aren't having severe pain and/or bleeding.

  • I've been experiencing the same thing this time around and was reassured by my dr that it's completely normal. Hope it passes quickly for you!
  • In my first trimester, I had two bouts of extreme gas pain. I would get so bloated and it would be painful to do anything! No position was comfortable and it felt like extreme cramping. One lasted 5 hours, the other one only lasted 2 or so...but were my first experiences like it and were awful...but ultimately did no hard to me or to the baby.

  • I have a test for this:  If I unbotton my pants, and it feels better, then it's gas pains.  I do this almost every single day because I'm so bloated and gassy!
