you could wait and decide if one looks more like the other name or not... or just flip a coin and say "first baby out gets name X", etc. that is what we'll do - esp since our names are pretty simlar for the boys.
We assigned a name to each baby from the time we chose them, and we told my MFM he HAD to make sure that we knew which baby was which when they came out! I don't know why we assigned each name to each baby, but we must have had a good reason because Charlotte had her name from very early on and Alice didn't.
I wanted Baby A to be named Alicenne after my grandmother, Alice. Baby B was diagnosed with spina bifida via ultrasound so I wanted her to have a special name. She was named Anna after my great aunt who was a nun. And Baby C was Emily.
Stupid me filled out the paperwork with their names for "Baby A" etc before their birth not realizing that Baby A could easily become Baby C depending on how they were pulled out. I had a little talk with my doctor right before my c-section about pulling them out in order. I told him it should be easy to do....lol. Thankfully he did it!
We didn't have final names picked out until they were both delivered. We wanted to see them before we gave them names. once we did, their names just fit them. I can't explain it any other way.
We knew baby B was in trouble at my big ultrasound, and we named him that day after my grandpa - the healthiest, funniest, biggest pain in the @ss I have ever known. When he retired he was the only person in the history of the mine where he worked that had never taken a single sick day. We needed some of his insanely healthy mojo to stick to our little dude!
We knew one name for sure (Lucie) and the other we hadn't decided. The name we knew was named after my grandmother, a sweet, docile woman. At first, since we knew just that name, i was thinking it would be Baby A's name. But then towards the end, I realized that Baby A was a mover and a shaker, whereas Baby B was so quiet and i'd barely know she was there, which is more like my grandmother, so we decided to give Baby B her Lucie name since her personality fit with the namesake better.
Oh, and the difference in physical activity i noticed while they were in the womb has continued since the day they were born (the docs called Baby A "a firecracker" and she wouldn't be still) thru today (Lucie is very mellow whereas her sister is all over the place)
We waited until they came out to see if one looked more like one name than the other, well they came out looking exactly alike so we decided to name Twin A the first name we picked and Twin B the second name we picked.
Re: One more naming Q: How did you decide which baby gets which name if they are the same sex?
