We are having a hellish time with naps. DD will sleep fine in her crib for bedtime, and usually goes down w/o a peep (we did CIO a couple of months ago) . We were consistant with bedtime, but not so much with naps. So we are trying again with naps.
She STTN 12-13 hours. As for naps it's not going so well. She is fighting them like crazy. Pedi said maybe she is dropping the 1st nap, and if she cannot settle, go and get her and try again later. Well that is fine, but then later she only sleeps for 25 min in the afternoon, and wakes up CRANKY.
Another thing is, we CANNOT transfer her to her crib, I would have no problem rocking her to sleep, but then we cannot get her to have the rest of the nap in her crib. We got home today, she had only been sleeping for about 5 min in the car, took her out of her carseat and put her in the crib, she immediately rolls over and is then awake, how can I transfer her???
Is she sleeping too long at night, and maybe I am lucky to have that...and naps throughout the day are not just going to happen? She will sleep great in the car, when we are out and about though....but basically refuses to nap in her crib. For the last couple of months, she has been sleeping on DH for naps, and we are trying to get her back to her crib. She starts daycare at the end of January and I am worried that she won't nap there at all!!
Err so frustrated, I just want her to nap in her crib!! Any advice would be great.
Re: Tips for getting DD to nap in crib?
I don't have much advice, but I just wanted to say you are not alone! Sleep training worked great for DD at night, and she goes down without a peep, without a paci. Naps are hellish if I'm not with her. I cosleep for her morning nap and take a nap myself then, and she sleeps on me for her afternoon nap. I tried getting her to take the afternoon one in the crib, and she won't make the transfer either. She's just up and awake and ready to go... but if she's on me, she'll sleep for 2 hours. I've been wanting to work on the naps, but we've been going out of town and busy since Thanksgiving, so I'm not going to try and work on it until the new year when things are a lot calmer. My resolution is to get her to nap in the crib!
The only I will say is that I know that babies often react much differently to daycare. She could be totally fine napping there, because the environment is different.
