Standing in the crib = more screaming at bedtime?

Ds just started pulling up in his crib about two weeks ago. Now my little guy who would go down relatively easy, loves to stand and scream while shaking his crib. Is this a phase he's going through because he's learned a new skill or are we just in for screaming bedtimes from now on? Once he gets to sleep he's great...staying down for 12 or so hours.

Oh...and he knows how to get back down - he just keeps going up and down.

  • Fun, fun.  DS still stands up in his crib but now he uses it as a trampoline as well.  At first, if he stayed standing too long, I would go back in a lay him down, without talking or anything, just walk in, lay him down and walk out.  He still stands up, but he knows that its not going to get him out of bed, so he eventually goes to bed.

  • I feel your pain. DS learned to pull up in his crib last week...now going to sleep is more difficult, when he wakes up in the middle of the night he stands up, and his naps are much shorter. To complicate things, while he's standing up he always spits his paci out over the rail...so at night I end up crawling on the floor on my hands and knees in the dark trying to locate the darned thing. I hope it's a stage and will pass soon!
  • I hope it is a phase that ends soon.  We have been in this hell for about 3 weeks.  We used to be able to lay her down and she would put herself to sleep within 5 to 10 minutes.  Now it can take an hour to get her to go to sleep.  We have resorted to rocking her which works most of the time, but was a habit that I did not want to get in to.  She will still sleep through the night, but once in a while in her sleep will sit up and cannot figure out how to lay back down, at which point I go in and help her.
