Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Gifts for DC poll question

Did you buy age appropriate items, stuff that DC can grow into or did you not even care?

I bought stocking stuff that DC can grow into...like Dora Plate, Cup and Bowl! I looked at the toys first to see if they would hold her interest and then I looked at the age. I also bought her lots of books!

Re: Gifts for DC poll question

  • He got age appropriate toys (from DH and I). Moslty b/c we don't have any, all the toys he has, he's starting to grow out of.  I'm hoping the rest of the family gets some toys he can use down the road.  I am also planning on going clothes shopping for him too.  DH's aunt signed him up for a book club when he was born, so we have more books than we know what to do with.

  • I bought nothing for him.  I hope that any gifts he receives are for growing in to.  He has far too much for right now.
  • I bought him something for ages 6 months- 36 months. So, I guess my answer is age appropriate.
  • DD is 10 months, so I tried to get her things she could use now but that would be good for a while.  The only thing I bought her that is a little older is a wooden puzzle (1 year +).  I figure she can take the pieces out now and grow into it.  My brother is getting her a 1 year + paino, but she likes the baby one she has so that will be great.  It'll actually be nice for me, sine DD flips the baby piano over and gets shove her fingers into the screw holes.  I was happy to put the baby one away today - in a few days she'll be able to play again without me needing to worry!

  • Everything I bought, and that family members are buying, is age appropriate that he can continue to use for the next 6+ months.

  • Really both.  The things I got for him he will enjoy now but he should still enjoy months from now.

  • Both. Some are 6-36 months, like the Fisher Price play wall, and others are for 18 months+, like the Little People airplane. Right now he seems bored with his toys, so I'm excited to give him new ones. But I also want to have other ones ready to go for when he gets bored again in 6 months!
  • I tried to buy things that will last a while like big blocks, wooden train, books, Fridge DJ (gave that to him on his b-day 12/12 and he loves it).
