Those that have a DC with a molar

Quentin is getting in a molar. He has been reaching to the back of his mouth and has been in pain for a few weeks now. He also wakes from it sometimes in mid-sleep, and I have to give him teething tablets and Tylenol to get him back to bed.
My question is, when the molar was coming through, did it take longer than a regular tooth?

Re: Those that have a DC with a molar

  • DD has 3 1/2 molars now - they take a lot longer for DD than her other teeth.

Try some motrin, that seems to help DD more than tylenol with teething.  And, *gasp*, I use baby orajel.

Thanks! Baby Orajel doesn't work with DS. I tried it before, and it does nothing. But, maybe motrin will be a good thing to try out.

  • Not molar related (because we aren't there yet), but ds just had his bottom front tooth (his 1st) come through the gum. How long from coming to the gum until it's all the way in?

  • Mrs Manners - DS's first bottom tooth broke through the gum on December 4, and we are just now able to really see it when he smiles. ?So, they take a while to come all the way in! ?

It took about 2.5 to 3 weeks for it to come all the way through.

  • Ben's molar took about the same amount of time to come in as all his other teeth, 3-4 weeks.
  • Also depends how much "chew" time they have breaking that skin thru, poor babies :(

Definitely try the motrin.  It also helps with the inflamation and lasts longer!  That sucks about the orajel and your DS.  I don't know what I would do if it didn't work on DD when she is screaming in pain from her teeth.

I definitely will! I think the orajel washes off his gums or something. It just doesn't work for some reason. Only the teething tablets have been a success. But, he will need something to last him through the night, and your idea of motrin should do the trick. Thanks, again!
