I have a buttload of earths best level 2 foods, and lots have meat in them so when did you start feeding meat?

  • I'm refusing to feed meat right now.  Is that bad?  I can't handle the look and smell of it.  I may be denying my kid some protein.

  • About a month ago I started chicken. It took about 3 tries but now DS loves it.
  • We started meats and dairy at 9 months per pedi's rec.

  • I started him around 8 1/2 months.
  • We started when DS was 7 mo due to his low weight per pedi approval. You should ask your pedi. But if you already try it and he loves it, i don't see why not. My DS fave is Sweet Potatoes chicken. This is the only food that i can stand the smell of it.
  • We'll probably start in about 2 weeks, but with some finger food and skip meat purees.

  • I made pureed chicken and then threw it out because I couldn't stand to smell it and couldn't bring myself to feed it to ds. I smelled like cat food. I ended up waiting until he started finger foods and now he eats shredded chicken and other meats. Babies don't need as much protein (or fiber) as adults so as long as they're getting formula they're likely getting enough.

  • Started around 9 months with the Earth's Best meats & veggie combos. I just bought a few jars of straight jarred meats that I started feeding her last week and they look/smell so disgusting that even though she gobbled them, I can't stomach buying those again.

  • We started at 7 months but then backed-off because he wasn't ready. I am slowly starting to re-introduce it now.
  • We're also skipping jarred meats (yuck!) and waiting until she is ready to eat shredded meats with her fingers. Even the ped said he didn't blame me because that the jarred stuff is horrid.
  • We started at Thanksgiving, when DS was just about 7 months old.  He only likes the meat when it's mixed with other things though, or if it's in bite sized pieces.  But, can you imagine just eating plain, pureed chicken?  It grosses me out.  He loves it mixed with pretty much anything though.
