I gave in. I was not going to take it away, because tonight was the first night in her big girl bed. But when we were in the bed reading a book, she did not ask for it so I decided to give it a go. Well, she was just sooooo broken hearted so I gave in. I will try again in a week or so when she is use to her new bed.
Should I have stuck to my guns and not given in?

Re: Ok scratch the no paci.....
you are braver than i have been---my girls are 3 and i haven't even tried to take it away. i think and talk about how i am going to do it, but i never tried.
my DH says that they will just give it up on their own, so we are going with that....for now. the gilrs only get their paci when they are in their bed and ready to have the lights off.
good luck if you try again.
She did not cry at first. She just kinda whined. She was quiet for about 20 min, then started crying. I think it was too much for one night. She was really not too sure about the bed either. I will try again next week.

one change at a time is enough in my book. let her get used to big girl bed first.
fwiw --my heart skipped a beat when i read your first post. i am dreading taking away the nap/sleep paci. ugh.
Bell - thanks for the encouragement. I really think it is going to be harder on me than her. I think one change at a time may be a little easier for everyone. Maybe in a few weeks we will give it a go again. BUT I am not looking foward to it.
