Poop question - possible neurotic mom

So I am debating whether or not to call and chat with the nurse of my pedi tomorrow about my dd's poop.  I need to know whether this is a neurotic mom or legitimate call.

Over the past week I have noticed my dd's poop has been more frequent (up to 4x a day, some days more) much looser (but not liquidy) and sometimes a bit mucousy.  It went from very solid to consistently like this, almost like the return of peanut butter poop.  We have introduced some new foods, so I am a bit concerned about an allergy.  I see no evidence of new teeth either.  So what do you all think?

  • my pedi said to call if i find blood or mucous in his stool

  • I'd say call if you have any concerns, but my sons' poop changes from poop to poop pretty much depending on what they ate.  If they had butternut squash, it's more orange (almost like newborn breastfed poop) to really blackish greenish thanks to broccoli.  And I've seen that in a 4 hour time period.  But if you are hesitant, it doesn't hurt to call the pedi!
  • Have you recently started yogurt??  I found that DD's poop became much more frequent and looser once we started yogurt (and she was pretty much constipated from the time we started solids, until we started yogurt).  I think it has to do with the probiotics.

I would call if it would make you feel better....it can't hurt!

  • We did start yogurt.  I was actually wondering if the possible allergy was to the dairy in the yogurt and cheese we started.  Thanks!
