Mary and Lila have absolutely zero interest in toys, the play mat, mobiles, etc. ?The other night, I finally got Mary to grip one of the toys hanging down on the play mat, but she didn't seem to even notice it. ?They just enjoy looking around, looking at our faces, "talking" to us (cooing noises), being held in a standing position so they can push off with their legs, laying on our laps and having their legs moved in the bicycle motion, etc. ?Basically, humans are their toy of preference.?
When did your babies actually start to play with things?
Also, when you follow the eat, activity, sleep schedule, how long does "activity" last?
Re: question about "activity" time
You know what? It takes a LONG time for babies to get really interested in toys. My girls have only started really interacting with toys (hitting keys on a play piano, spinning toys on their exersaucer) in the last couple weeks!!!
Don't worry about it too much - talking to them, singing, exercising their little legs and going for walks all counts as activity!
Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!
Hey KM-
My babies are the same....our activity time lasts about 15-20 minutes and I just play music for them, sing to them, rub their bellies and backs, move their legs and pretend we're riding bicycles/running/swimming. Then they get tired and want to go to sleep. I do use their hands and feet to touch toys or touch our faces...not much else right now.
They don't even really like tummy time yet...they can last maybe a few minutes.
Happy Holidays!
Oh my boys JUST started "playing" these past few weeks. They grab at toys and bat at them. Brady is now putting things up to his mouth. You're absolutely fine. It also depends on their "adjusted age". Technically my boys are just over 3 months old - so I'd say 2.5 months adjusted they started "playing". And they're really just grabing/batting.
Activity time can be 10 minutes or an hour...depends on when they decide to get crabby and its time to nap!!?
