Babies: 9 - 12 Months

We had such a great night!

We've been doing Ferber and it's working pretty well. Just being able to put him in his crib at night and for naps without rocking him has been wonderful. Lately we've been working on the middle-of-the-night-feedings.

He was eating twice in the middle of the night so I've been working to cut those out. Last night we went out to dinner and he fell asleep in the car on the way home. I fed him at 8:30 when we got home and put him in his crib. He woke briefly at 2:30 AM. I went in and gave him his binky back (this is what we'll work on next) and I didn't hear from him again until 7:00 this morning!!!!  He didn't want to eat at all last night!

I feel so rested I think I might just clean the house today!  Wink

  • We started Ferber last night...it was rough.  I am glad to hear that we have good things in the future.  I just want my little man to feel rested.  Glad your night was so successful!!

  • so great that you are getting more sleep! I have to think of something. Jack will sleep during the day in his crib with the BCM on but at night he sleeps for only a couple of hours in his own bed before waking to come in ours. Then wakes again a few hours later to eat and then back to bed and I can usually get him back in his own bed at that point but not always.

  • That's great!

We're doing Ferber too.  How have you been trying to cut out the feedings?  Did you just stop feeding at night or did you do the stretching out the minimum time to feed from Ferber's book? We're doing the stretching out of feeding time.  We've gotten her down to eating once a night so that's been a great.  Although she's still been waking up more than that, but we're still working on it.

I started with stretching the feedings out but quickly noticed that when I gave him his pacifier back he would usually fuss for a few more minutes and go back to sleep! I was thinking his pacifier would "hold" him for 15 more minutes until the "new" feeding time but he ended up just going back to sleep. I think I'm going to let him keep his pacifier for a few more weeks but when it comes time to break him of that sleep association we're going to have some rough nights...he's totally addicted to his binky!

     Good luck!!
