Success after IF

Does anything help baby acne?

Most of the day Brighton has the most perfect baby skin.. and then randomly his entire face is covered in acne!  It's so rough and red.... is there anyway to prevent that?   Does washing more often/less often help? i know it's normal but we have so many christmas' coming up and hardly anyone we know has met him yet.
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Re: Does anything help baby acne?

  • Jack's got some zits right now too - poor baby!  It must be the 5 week breakout!  I think his are in part caused by his binky rubbing against his face while he sucks on it too.  But I had the same thought - his paternal grandparents are going to meet him for the first time on Christmas Eve when they come to Pittsburgh and here he has some angry looking zits on his poor little face!  He also had some boogers in his nose today and dried milk all over his face at one point - DH and I were laughing - he looked like a big mess - ha ha!  Unfortunately - I don't think anything can be done for baby acne - I think it's related to hormones too - and just has to run its course.
    Wheee!

  • Karly had it so bad.  If I can find a pic I'll pip.  The pedi told me to leave it be and just wash with a warm wash cloth, no soap, no lotion after a few weeks it went away.

  • Our pedi said to use lotrimin antifungal cream...I was very skeptical at first.  But it cleared his face up over night!  Just put a little bit on though.
  • I actually applied Eucerin Aquaphore (sp?) on my DD's baby acne as per rec from a family friend - it really helped to soften her face and I don't know if it's from the Eucerin, but her face was completely cleared up in about a week.  I only apply it when she has dry skin now.  They also sell it at walmarts at least as a baby product (I got mine at CVS in the regular skin care section.)

My pedi said we could just use warm water to wash but she said when she had her baby she used Mustela baby products and wasn't sure if that was the reason her baby's face cleared up too.  (She said she likes to think so LOL.)

  • I also used the Eucerin Aquaphore and it cleared up right away.

  • No way to prevent.  They say it's hormone related...

What worked for us was Aveno Baby wash.  Took 2-3 days...

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
