Ok so my teething 6 month old is spurting as well or she has just not been eating enough (because of the pain) that my milk has gone down. Anyways, normally I would pump more often for a few days, but I wanted to try something more. So I bought the tea and the pills, but I'm not sure about the dosages. I'm a little scared because my LC said that Fenugreek was an herb and not approved by the FDa so to be careful.
Has anyone else had good results from this?
How many times a day did you take the pills and drink the tea?
Re: Fenugreek and mother's milk tea
On the advice of my LC I took 3 pills 3 times a day for 2 weeks (actually she told me 2 weeks but I did it for 3-4. I had serious issues getting my supply up and keeping it up). ?I bought them at GNC. ?(https://tinyurl.com/9odfr8)
Don't get too excited about the tea. If you don't like black licorice then you won't like the tea. ?The pills were easier for me. ?But after a couple of days you're urine will smell a little like maple syrup. ?It's an odd smell but it goes away after you stop taking it for awhile.?
I did have good results. ?But had to be really careful about plugged ducts. ?Make sure you're emptying each breast adequately and if you start to overproduce milk back off the supplements. ??
Also, make sure you're caloric intake is appropriate. ?My LC said never to go below 2000 calories a day. ?And that you're drinking enough water. ?She said at least 1 glass per nursing session and preferably more.
And you can pump an extra 10 min after your baby is done nursing. Even though you may nto get any milk, it will stimulate your breasts to make more. ?
All these things should get your supply up in just a couple of days. ?Good luck!!! ?
