JCP for pictures?

Anyone had pictures taken at JC Penney before?  I am considering taking DS there for his next pictures.  TIA!

Re: JCP for pictures?

  • I have and it just all depends on your photographer.  I've had some really good ones and some not-so-good.  When you make the appointment, request someone who is good with kids.  They are reasonably priced, but it does take about 3 weeks for the prints to come in.

  • We went for the 1st time last week.  Pics turned out great.  I didn't like that they do 10 minute sessions.  Next time I'll do it first thing in the morning and not during such a mad rush like Christmas time.

  • We did them two weeks ago. I heard great things. Our pics came out pretty good, but the session was waaaaayyyy too fast. I know it had to be due to the Christmas rush. But, I would have liked more poses, and more time. It was super quick- so that part I did not like. Our pics took a week to come in, but the do them fast around the holida season.

  • Were the pics pricey or pretty reasonable?  I kind of went overboard on his newborn pics with a local photographer, so I just want a few 3/4 month pictures.
  • I thought the prices were good- they always have coupons in the paper/magazines for really good deals. $3.99 a sheet with a free 8 x 10. They will offer you enhanced photos that you will probably love and want to buy, and those are a bit more- $15-20 a picture. We spent a little over $50 and got a ton of pictures. It is $10/per person for a sitting fee, but they have a card you can get for $30 and it is free sitting fees for two years I think.

That's not bad at all!  Thanks for the info.

  • We got DD's pictures taken as well as family pics when DD was 3 weeks at JCP. The pics turned out really good!

I was somewhat disappointed because they didn't offer some of the cool enhancements that other places offer (like B&W with one or two things in color, or collages with 9 pics of different parts of baby's body...) Also, they didn't do any type of touch-ups... I'm not sure if they do these things now b/c I know they were going digital shortly after we got our pics done.

Also, they were priced really well! We got a wall portrait, 3 - 8x10, and way too many wallets and 3 1/2 x 5... Also, we got some of the enhanced photos. We paid about $300 for all of that. (Oh yes, we also bought the card for free sittings for two years).
