one of the daycare employees is going to watch dd for a half day at her house (further away from us) when daycare is closed on Christmas Eve and possibly NYE. We've never had anyone baby sit besides family who we don't pay. Normal daycare cost is 32/day. How much should we pay the person watching her outside of work for us?
Re: daycare closed during the holidays, how much to pay person watching dd?
Do you mean that she's watching her the whole day or just for a few hours?
You definitely need to discuss this with the babysitter ASAP!
For all day, my first thought was that I'd probably go with minimum wage - which is more than your hourly rate, but what she probably makes at work... so 8 hours would be about $50.... but that seems awfully steep, so maybe $40 which would be a nice midway between your normal rate and what she might earn at work.
If it's just for a few hours, I would pay $8-10 per hour with $20 as the minimum amount.
