Tilting mattress for chest congestion

Has anyone here done it with a little one that sleeps all over their crib? DS has really bad chest congestion, thankfully we caught it early enough according to his doc that has seen a lot of kids wheezing and has had to send them to the hospital. We want to avoid that. He moves all over his crib, and sleeps in all different kinds of positions throughout the night. How would I go about tilting his mattress up in order to benefit him, or is it a lost cause really?

Re: Tilting mattress for chest congestion

  • We did it when he was infant in his bassinette and not moving much. I don't know if it would work if your little one moves all over the place.

  • we have a blanket under her mattress, so the whole side of the crib is raised.
  • DS moves all over the place so when he has a stuff nose or chest congestion tilting the mattress doesn't do anything. We have found that rubbing vicks on his chest, putting a humidifier in his room and buying those vicks vapor plug ins are the best bet and the best we can do.
  • I gave DS a pillow when he was pretty sick the last time and he pretty much stayed on the pillow.  He is also a mover.  Now he has a pillow all the time

Thanks that's exactly what I needed to hear. Good thing I have all of that stuff already from the last time he had a head cold.

  • I put the Vicks on DS's feet with socks...then he doesnt rub it constantly
