Success after IF

Who swaddles at night?

We have found that by swaddling DS, he is able to actually sleep on his own for a few hours, which is awesome.  However, one of the NICU nurses told us that it is not recommended to swaddle at night anymore.  Why is this? Is it because of people not paying attention to the baby body temperature? Has anyone else heard this?  I am not sure if I totally trust what this nurse said because she was kinda old and said some weird things while we were there.

Re: Who swaddles at night?

  • We do, and the nurses swaddled DS at the hospital for us.

I think it's pretty common.  bright LOVES his swaddle blanket!

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • We were misinformed quite a bit at the hospital about multiple things. I talked to my pedi about swaddling, he said that it is perfectly fine to swaddle at night.
Finally after 15 months and 2 IUI's we have our gorgeous baby boy! • I believe it is because of body temperature.  We just keep the bedroom cool (and use a cool-mist humidifier) and make sure that Ava has something light on underneath the swaddle-me.  The nurses at the hospital swaddled her the entire time she was there, so I'm not too concerned!

  • swaddle, swaddle,swaddle....

our babies are swaddled whenever they need to go to sleep...they love it and it helps them relax....

babies were swaddled in hospital too...never heard it was a bad idea

  • Our hospital swaddled with 2 blankets!!!

We still swaddle. It's actually the only way G will sleep. Even nap-time during the day I swaddle him, and if we're out I tuck his blanket in so tight to not move his arms.

So yeah, I'm a swaddle crazed mom... and SwaddleMe's are the bestest!
