My DS is 10.5 mo and I was thinking about changing his night time
routine so that the bottle is not the last thing before bed.
Eventually leading to dropping it all together. This may be a new
mommy, naive question, but how do you know that they are not hungry for
it? I always assumed it was necessary to get him through the
night because he was a little hungry before bed.... Is that
really a dumb question?
Re: S/O: Dropping night bottle
I started changing DS's night bottle around 10-11 months. ?I didn't really drop the night bottle I just kind of moved it up so that it wasn't right before bed. ?
Now I give DS a sippy cup with milk around 7pm every night. ?It's after dinner but still a good 30 minutes to an hour before he goes to bed. ?Eventually he'll have his milk with dinner. ??

DS's "bedtime" bottle was never really the very last thing he took.....so I don't know if my answer will help. But....honestly, I just got rid of it. I was so worried about him not doing well, but all of my friends that have older kids said to just drop them and they will do fine. I noticed that a couple weeks before I was going to drop it he started eating less and less from it. One night (after we used up our last can of formula....), I just didn't give it to him....I thought he would be up at night hungry...nope! Totally fine
I literally just "dropped" all the other bottles too, so maybe he was used to it??? Now we just do bath, pj's, book and to bed
