Carseat Question

DS is getting a little to long and stout for his infant carseat. My mom is getting him a new one for Christmas, what are the best ones to look at. Since this will be his carseat for a while, we want him to have a good one that will last.?

How come they make toys for carseats that are supposed to hang from the carseat "arms" but the bigger carseats don't have "arms" like the infant seat? Got a new toy for DS and when he's in the new carseat he won't be able to play with it b/c unless i'm dumb, there is nowhere to hook it.?

Re: Carseat Question

  • We've been looking at the evenflo triumph & the britax blvd. I think we're going to go with the blvd. We found it online for $239, free shipping & no tax.?

    ?

  • And we bought this thing. we use it on her carseat (our bar is supposed to be back in the car), on her swing, etc.

  • We have an Evenflo Triumph (I forget the exact model) for when Jake grows out of his infant seat.

I found the Britax's to be too large and expensive....

  • We have a Britax Roundabout for DS and a Britax Decathalon for DD.  We're very happy with both of them.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you are supposed to use the bars on carseats.  I know our carseat tech told us to always put the bar down on the infant carrier when we are in the car, and I would think that the toy bar attachment could be a projectile during a crash - I've always heard not to attach anything to the carseat.  It may be worth researching before you buy one.

    DD1 - 12.25.05
    (m/c 1.17.07, m/c 5.15.07)
    DS - 03.15.08
    DD2 - 12.03.09
    DD3 - 3.28.11
  • We have two Evenflo Titan Elite's.  One for each car.  We used one on one occassion so far and then only thing I didn't like about it, was that it didn't seem to recline in the rear facing position.  DH thinks he can put some swim noodles under it (safely, of course) and fix that problem.  We'll still be using the Graco baby seat until she is 22 pounds or 29 inches long, whichever comes first.

The Titan Elite is about $100.

  • Joey has a Britax Decathlon and Allie will be moving into a Britax Roundabout very soon.  I REALLY like the Roundabout, but it only goes up to 40 pounds.  The Decathlon goes up to 65 pounds, but the straps are such a pain to adjust.
  • We also got the evenflo triumph for when she grows out of the infant seat. It got great reviews and saftey ratings.
