video camera recommendations

i want to get a video camera for DH for christmas. does anyone have a recommendations for a quality camera that is not crazy $$$. i'm going to check out online but thought i would ask here first to get me started. TIA!

We bought the Sony HRDSR11.  It's $899 at bestbuy.  My philosophy on electronics is this...if you don't spend the money now, you'll get something that you want to replace in a short time because the technology improves so fast...and in the long run spend more money then just getting the best in the first place.  The camcorder is awesome, it's rated #1, the reviews are great, and you can finance it.

Panasonic HDC-SD9. I bought this off of amazon for our disney trip this summer for a very resonable price.
