You don't have to take out your nipple rings while breastfeeding! They make bars especially for breastfeeding, where you have to apply pressure and unscrew both ends at the same time, and they go in opposite directions, so they can't unscrew in the baby's mouth. It's a great safety feature.

My cousin bf-ed with nipple rings in. She mentioned that leakage seemed worse because of them.

The unscrewing in mouth fear--I wouldn't have even thought of that! Yikes!

I really think there should be a test you have to pass to get pregnant... but apparently that's "unconstitutional" or something like that. So 'La Monte's Mommy' and the like will continue to spawn for the time being...

Ouch! They hurt enough now without any rings ever there. With rings???? wow. I just couldn't go there. My friend said it really didn't hurt when she got one done. I don't think she BF her kids. I think she took it out too. ew
