Pressure in lower abdomen?

I woke up with pressure in my lower abdomen this morning and have had it all day..... kind of feels like gas or I need to go to the bathroom but I've done some of both and it hasn't gone away. I don't think it round ligament pain as that is more sharp and fleeting from what I understand. This is constant pressure/fullness below my belly button. It's not painful but really uncomfortable. Thoughts? Anyone else have this?

Re: Pressure in lower abdomen?

  • yeah, theres just a lot of stuff in that area that has to move around to make room now.  call your doc if your worried.

  • Could just be the way the baby is sitting.  I started having BH as early as this too but not an all day thing.

Like everyone says drink more water lol

  • Pressure, cramping, etc in my lower abdomen almost CONSISTENTLY for the last 5 days. Yesterday was especially bad. Apparently it's just growing, the uterus is growing, baby is moving around a lot.

My dr. said not to be worried unless I have bleeding, severe (doubling over cramps), diarrhea and/or nausea.

GL, it's not always puppies and rainbows!

    WHAT?!?! Don't ruin my dreams!

  • If its really constant then i would call the doc just to be on the safe side, my doc says constant pain isn't normal and when I had a very similiar situation to what you were saying they brought me in just to check.  I'm sure its fine, but I'd call.

LOL. Sorry, that was totally a captain obvious comment on my part. I've been in the bitter barn this week about this stuff. I just want to enjoy, but the constant crampiness makes it hard! :(

Awww... bitter barn... I like that. Sorry to hear about your cramps! I'm sure it will get better soon! I am having the worst time sleeping right now if that makes you feel any better!

  • I had that same feeling EXACTLY at the time that you are experiencing it. I went to L&D to have them check my cervix because they were convinced something was up, but it just turns out that everything was moving/growing. They also remarked there that our bodies change a *lot* during weeks 17-21, and I very much agree. I would still call, though, as lots of pressure is a sign of an incompetent cervix (hence why they checked mine).
  • I agree you need to keep hydrated.

Also, any other symptoms?  May want to get checked for a urinary track infection.  UTI's often present with pressure feeling, and many times are without any other symptoms in pregnancy.  Just a thought if it continues.

  • Thanks guys - UTI and incompetent cervix are something I hadn't thought of....

  • I am having the same thing this week and it is not comfortable at all. I'm pretty sure it's just everything stretching and moving.
