OMG- I am in disbelief at how much gates cost. We have a top of stair gate that cost $60! It looked great because it was made of metal and really sturdy construction. Well at the top of our stairs there isn't a stud to drill it into and the other side is our banister. I already purchased a kit to go over the banister to protect it. Our problem is the studless wall on the other side. The gate has been ripped out of the wall 3 TIMES!!! This is just from us going up and down it. DD hasn't even shook the gate yet!
So, we need one that is at least 6 feet wide to go around the spindles and stairwell so we go from one stud on a wall to another stud on the opposite wall. Hard to explain, but just roll with whatever imagine you have in your mind ![]()
I was just researching them and they cost over $140!!! It's crazy. I know that my kids safety is a number #1 priority. I think I am going to use my bed bath and beyond coupon and order one through their site in the store. At least it would bring it down to around $100 and they have free shipping right now. Argh- just another expense I don't need.
So, we have a worhless $60 gate that we can't use. Anyone want it?

Pea-kay- I think we are going to go with this one:
https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=112226&RN=1100&
Katie: 1/16/08 2lbs. 15oz.
Abby & Emily: 12/31/10 6lbs. 2oz. & 5lbs. 7oz.
Holy smokes, that's expensive!
That's one thing about my 65 year old home: it may be a piece of crud in some ways, but every entry from one room to another is an actual doorjamb (goes with the house being so closed-in and cramped!!) The top of the stairs down to the basement is a doorframe. I've always wondered how people with beautiful, open stairways deal with baby gates! I guess it's not cheap!
