Having parents getting older sucks

My Mom finally wants to retire...she is 72.  Dad passed away 1.5 years ago.  Mom is so overwhelmed by everything so I am going through all the Medicare advantage plans (really HMOs/PPOs) online and then asking her questions to narrow it down and it's so hard b/c she is not always very logical so I have to keep explaining and give examples.  I hope to have this done this weekend...I need her to make a final decision before the baby is here (scheduled for next Friday) b/c I will not be able to help after that and this is all that's keeping her working.  Sometimes I feel like I have another child.  Thanks for listening.

It is not easy.  You are a good daughter!  It is hard to watch and harder still to have to physically and mentally cope with.

I just went to see my grandmother for what feels like the last time.  She is 88 and sick and live 300 miles away, and I won't be able to travel for at least 4 months after New Years.  I got in an accident 3 blocks from her house after leaving, I was so distracted seeing her that way.

JoeBunny, sorry for what you are going through too, it is hard.

Ever since my Dad got sick my Mom has aged so much.  And I feel like I am constantly lecturing her about thing but someone has to look after her  and it surely is not my brother and SIL who act like she moved SOOO far away...30 minutes versus the 12 minutes it used to be, but that's another vent.  Today I told her that all of the Medicare suppliments reimburse partially for hearing aids every 3 years...meaning you mightt need new ones that often!!!  We can tell her hearing is not as good as when she got the hearing aids and she refuses to see a doctor versus a tech at the hearing aid place...I told her she spend about $20k fixing up the house she just moved into, she surely can invest in her hearing.
