Yet another clothing question

Some of the long-sleeved baby outfits have extra large cuffs.  And this is for?

Extra warmth?  When I am too lazy to cut baby finger nails?  To discourage putting his/her hands in mouth?

Re: Yet another clothing question

  • are they cuffs all the way around?  Or are they like mittens that can go over their hands?

I dont' remember seeing things with extra "cuffs"...

  • Actually, they do go half-way around.  Are they mittens?
  • Yes, they would be mittens.

  • When they're brand new they tend to scratch themselves in the face a lot!  This helps with that and to keep them warm.  They are the best!  DS slept in them every night when he was first born.
  • yep, turn them sort of inside out and they're mittens.

  • Yep, they're mittens. We never used them but some people like them. Then again, we never used any mittens, she'd scratch herself and an hour later it would be healed - I didn't worry about it (such a bad mommy I am).
  • They are wonderful! You don't even have to be lazy for your kid to scratch there face. You can cut there nails and 2-3 days later they will be back. It is truly freaky.
  • #1 They are there so the baby does not scratch their face and #2 to discourage finger sucking but since #2 is a self soother I'm not sure why...& #3 to keep the fingers warmer... but I always thought I was cooking my child like a turkey...
