I asked DH.
Not the other way around. His mom told me, "you should ask tony to marry you".
So that evening, after drinking cocktails with his mom most of the evening, we had to go to Wal-mart to get a slip n slide for the kids at his family reunion the next day. We were in my truck, I was half buzzed, smoking a cigarette, and I said, "tony, I think you should marry me".
He kinda blew me off and I continued to talk about it (even inside Wal-Mart), to the point where I asked our cashier if it was wrong of me to talk about it in the store.
He said it wasn't romantic, I said it didn't need to be romantic, it needed to be real, and what we had was real.
Again, he kinda blew me off so I gave up and assumed I totally blew my chance, even though I told him I wanted to get married in December or January.
The next night, around 2am, he said, "let's do it in March". By that time I'd pretty much forgotten about it so he had to remind me that he meant us get married in March. Once I caught on, I didn't care if it was in Dec-Jan, March was perfect for me.
So I flipped out, asked "seriously"? about twelve times, then we picked a date.
Not romantic, but there it is.:)
Re: how my proposal went down (too good to add to pp).
