i'm hand sewing a little teddy bear and i made a few monster and robot figures out of clay for his room. ive also started his scrap book. i want to make one for each of the kids we have. i love crafting.
I made the crib skirt and wall panels for the nursery, as well as the mobile and lots of felt softies. I'm also making simple A-line dresses. Next project: Adorable booties that are super easy! Here's the link:
My cousin is going to learn to knit just so she can make a blanket for the baby. I on the other hand have done nothing. I love crafting but can't find the time these days. I'd definitely like to do a scrapbook, although I only have 1 pic of me during pregnancy so far. You all have some great ideas...makes me want to get busy crafting!
You can get a package of plain Gerber onesies at Joann Fabrics and I got a bunch of cute iron on decals and made 6 adorable newborn onesies for about $20.
I've been a busy little bee, but I'm only working 2 days a week so I've managed to find a lot of time to do this stuff. We aren't finding out the baby's sex and the only problem I'm having with it is that is cramps my crafting! Here's what I've done/have on my list:
-knitted hooded blanket
-knitted booties and hat in lightweight yarn
-2 quilts - one "keepsake" one more fun
-knitted bear doll
-misc burp cloths
-taggies (1 done, I want to make at least 1 or 2 more)
-hooded towel (my friend had one and loved it)
-several simple flannel receiving blankets
-Crib skirt and curtains for nursery
-"nappy bag" diaper bag pattern from amy butler
-cloth blocks
-embellished onesies
-bibs of the month....I wanted to do onesies with "1" "2" etc on them that the baby could wear for monthly pictures, but I really don't want to spend a ton of time on them now only to find out that I have a 10 pounder who is in 3-6 month onesies right away. So I decided to applique or embroider bibs. Much cheaper and will definitely fit.
A few things I've figured out....the Just 1 Year onesies by Carter's at Target are much softer and easier to work with than the Gerber ones, but the Gerber cloth diapers are fine for burp cloths. I like to back my taggies and quilts with Minkee, but it is such a PITA to work with - unless you wash it, then its a bit better. I found a knitting book by Debbie Bliss that recommends her Cashmerino blend yarn ($8 a ball) but Michael's has a cashmere blend yarn that knits up just as nice for $3-4 a ball. I've also used their Bamboo blend yarn for really cute booties.
Re: Crafty Mom's
they have stamped cross stitch kits for baby blankets and bibs n stuff. start with that if you wish. i did and then went on to ragtime quilts.

Edit: Oh ya, I also made about 30 flannel butt wipes to go with our cloth diapers. I'm proud of those :-)
I'll be making the crib set and cloth diapers to start with.
Once baby is here and we know the gender, I'll make clothes.
I also would like to make some felt food at some point, because I think it's a cool toy.
LOL.. good answer Ash07!
