2nd Trimester

Maternity underwear

I'm still a couple days shy of 2nd tri but I thought you guys would be able to offer some better advice on this topic.  Can someone give me the lowdown on maternity underwear?  I usually just wear standard bikini cuts but some of them are starting to get a little small due to my ever expanding a**.  Is it really necessary to buy maternity underwear or did you just get a bigger size in regular styles if you needed to?  Also, do bikinis bug you now that your belly is getting bigger?  I hate feeling like my buttcrack is hanging out and thought the belly might push them down as I get bigger.

Re: Maternity underwear

  • I'm still in my bikini underwear, but they're getting pretty tight. I was able to get through my first pregnancy with the underwear I had, but since then VS has changed their panties and the new ones don't fit the way the old ones did....I'm trying REALLY hard not to give in, but it's so hard....

  • I went to target and found the pack of Fruit of the loom bikini cut underwear with the most for "free" (my pack was $4.38 for 9 panties).  I got this in 1 size larger than I normally do and have been comfortable so far, they sit below my belly, and it doesn't bother me.
  • I really like the Old Navy maternity low rise bikini.  I've gotten 2 different packs and they are a little different.  The ones that they sell on the website are better (the pack of white black and nude).  They fit me when I was barely showing and now that I'm bigger they are still the best.

  • I bought bikinis from motherhood maternity and love them... they are super soft and strechy so they dont dig in my belly or anything.
  • Does Target still sell Maternity underwear? I can't seem to find them this time and I LOVED them.
  • Some people buy a bigger size.  I bought motherhood maternity strectch bikini and I love them!!! They are so comfy and they still fit great~  they come in a three back for like $11 or $14 per pack.

  • I got mine from Old Navy, one 3 pack of thong & 1 3 pack of bikini, and they are great.  Cheap & comfy.  Some of my old standards are still great, but some are getting tight, and I have enough to worry about not to add tight undies.  You know what i mean!  Best of luck to you!

  • I bought the ones from Motherhood, but didn't like them as well.  They just fit me weird, I suppose.  I'm still in my old Hanes and Jockey for Women till I have to get more.
  • I never purchased maternity undies with last pregnancy or this one. I'm still wearing my regular briefs - aka, the 'period' grannie panties but they seem to work best. I usually find it's the pants that are the problem... GL!
  • I upgraded to the official "granny panty"... a.k.a. the brief. ?I've found that the most comfortable ones are the Hanes Low Ride Brief. ?I also tried the High-Cut Brief from Motherhood, but those were really uncomfortable and felt like they were riding up my butt.

  • I will also say that I like the Old Navy low rise maternity bikinis.  Although they have changed them a little since I was PG last time they are still MUCH better than my regular undies (which I am wearing today due to clean laundry shortage)
  • Hmm so far I am in my vs thongs. I wear thongs with maternity jeans because otherwise I keep getting wedgies.  When in sweats I wear my normal low rise bikinis. Both have lace bands, so they're nice and comfy and don't cut in even though I've gained some weight.
  • I bought a pair of Motherhood and they fall off my ass, have no idea why since I bought my normal size.

So I bought Hanes boy shorts and went up a size.

  • Thanks for all these replies, I didn't get back to check them all yesterday.  I was just curious if there was something magical about maternity underwear.  From the responses I think I might just buy some new regular undies for now and then try out some maternity ones when I get a little bigger.  Thanks again!
