pot luck parties

I have two pot luck parties coming up

at one I have to bring an appetizer and a potato dish (love sweet potatos--not a fan of the sweet casseroles with lots of added sugar & marshmellows though)

and at the other i signed up for a veggie dish....

any suggestions?

thanks!

Re: pot luck parties

  • greenbean casserole...yummmmmmmmm
  • Loading the player...
  • appetizer, I don't know what it's called but, it's little smokies, wrapped in bacon with a little brown sugar on top (use toothpick to keep together). Bake and serve. I had it a couple weekends ago and I've been wanting to make it since then.
  • raw veggies and dip.
  • Appetizer:Breakfast Quiche

Potato Dish: Potato salad (all time favorite)

Veggie Dish: Shrimp Creole Caesar Salad

(I'd be happy to give you the recipes if you choose any)

  • Try allrecipes.com

     They have great recipes.

  • Veggie pizza.......yum

  • I have a very easy potato casserole recipe:

    1 bag potatoes O'brian

1 can of cream of chicken soup

1 container of sour cream (smaller one)

    2 cups cheese

combine all the above ingredients and put into a 13x9 pan

You can use chips or I use potato sticks for the topping.

I crush one can of the potato stick to cover the top and melt one stick of butter and pou over the top.

Bake in the over for 1-1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees.

I don't know if that helps but I know its a big hit at all the parties I go too.

  • App: baked brie - get a chunk of brie (pasteurized, bien sur), coat the top with gobs of jam (hot pepper jelly is good as is apricot or raspberry), get a can of crescent rolls and flatten them out into one large piece...wrap your jam covered brie, bake at 350/400 until it looks browned and crusty...serve with toast chips

potato - garlic mashed - wash and boil red potatoes with skin on, when soft, drain, mix in butter, dried garlic, salt, and cream or 1/2 and 1/2 to taste

veggie - salad with cranberries, crumbled blue or feta (again, pasteurized), candied pecans, lowfat raspberry pecan dressing from kens

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE that brie thing.  I had my MOH make two for my bridal shower.  :)  It would be a hit.

  • No suggestions BUT I just had to share a story from my friend who went to the potluck party at her office today.  A lady signed up and wrote that she was bringing a "tuna jello salad".  For two weeks we have been speculating that there was no way these things would be together and that she was bringing two different items.  NOPE.  Tuna in lemon jello with peas. .  .and it was runny. . . and she used to teach home-ec.  Discuss.
