People get offended over the use of the word "gay" in that post, but people say "that's retarded" all the time and never think it might be offensive.
I agree with you. I think the overusage of "retarded" and "gay" are both offensive.
Whoa, you really do? I don't mean that sarcastically at all - seriously, I've never met anyone who thought saying "retarded" (when used out of context) was offensive. I'm shocked. In a good way. :-)

Or when you live with family members who are mentally/physically handicapped.
Whether its "just a saying" or not, its still offensive, I work with children with special needs and I think using "retarded" as an insult to something or someone is childish and immature. Same with "gay"
Re: OH NO SHE DIDN'T
One of my biggest life regrets: I think I went too easy on the G-bomb dropper.

lmao
Yeah, I'll probably get flamed for this.
*cringes*

How can one not worry about being offensive when using the word 'retarded', I wonder? I'm not disagreeing...I'm just sayin' it takes a "special" type.
LOLing at intentional hypocrisy.

Hehe.
aaaaand ... now she's defending herself by saying that she didn't "mean" to be offensive.
How long until we get a GBCN on this one, ladies?
Or when you live with family members who are mentally/physically handicapped.
ditto. we just went thru this last month w/ "retarded". It's just a saying. I am not going to flip out over it.
