Starbucks addicts, Q for you :)

SIL is addicted to Starbucks but her FI is giving her a hard time about spending so much $$$ everyday on coffee! So DH and I got her a CG to Starbucks for Christmas.

Can you use any old thermos mug and have them fill it or does it have to be one of theirs? Or do they have some sort of "program" where you can buy their thermos and refill it everyday for less? I'm assuming they don't "force" you to use their cardboard cups and you can use a refillable one.. ?

I'd rather not give her just the CG and I thought this could be a good little side-gift. The ones at Starbucks were $20 though and we already spent 100 so I would prefer to find a cheaper one at Kohls or something if she could still use it there. The girl working at the counter when we bought the GC was a total idiot though and couldn't answer any of my questions with anything but a blank stare..

I've seen people bring there own...even non Starbucks ones.

I have no idea if they refill for less on their thermos/mugs, but I know they will fill any thermos/mug you bring from home.

I think you get free refills and 10 cents off your coffee.

I worked at Sbux a few years ago, so it's possible things have changed, but back then you could bring in any mug for them to fill and they would give a 10 cent discount.

They used to give a minimal discount for bringing your own mug.  It's been awhile so I don't know if they still do it.  I used to bring any travel mug and it was fine.
