Paige shocked me today when she could do it. I didn't think it was a 15 mo thing?! Don't get me wrong I am overjoyed I don't have to stick the bulb sucker in her nose anymore!!!
She's started trying to but she doesn't blow hard enough to get anything out. I think she only does it b/c she imitating me. We both have nasty colds right now
by 18 months don't remember exactly when... but prior I'd ask her to blow her nose and she'd lean her nose in and do a weak little blow. lol. when she first got something out she was so amazed and thrilled... then the picking begins... fun fun!

Aiden started doing it 3 weeks ago... kinda. He had a runny nose so I would wipe his nose and all of a sudden I went to wipe his nose and he would blow... So he can't do it by himself but if I hold the tissue he blows...
That's awesome!! ?I can't wait for DD to blow with enough force to really get something out. ?She's had the concept down with blowing when we tell her to blow her nose and we do it, but she just does it too dainty right now. ?I have to pretend to suck boogies out of my nose with the bulb each time before I put it in her nose for her to even let me get close to her with it! ?She thinks it's funny when I pretend to suck them out of my nose so it's like a game for her. ?DH cracks up every time I do this and thinks I'm crazy, but it works! ??
Ben was about 16 months old when you could tell him to blow and he would. Of course, he still kept blowing after we removed the tissue, but that's another story. LOL! Now, he thinks it's hilarious to stick his finger in his nose and blow.

Ha! I am still waiting for my DD to figure this out. Check the ticker below -- she's nearly 8 1/2.
Don't get me wrong -- she can hold the kleenex up to her nose and blow. It's just doing it effectively that's the problem: not wadding the tissue up into a ball before you start, blowing hard enough to get the gunk out, knowing when you need to blow.
UGH! So frustrating!! Every time she has a cold or allergies (usually with her it's allergies) we have this discussion.
Fortunately, for some reason, DS is a champion nose blower and has been since about the same age as jessicada76's daughter!
Ha ha! I know... when DD kissed DH on the cheek the other day (for the 1st intentional kiss she'd ever given), you'd of thought she walked on water! LOL!
He will blow his nose now if I hold the tissue for him. He has done this since a year mostly bc he was curious one day when I was sick and blowing my nose alot.
He has yet to understand when he needs a tissue to get it on his own.
Funny that the thread about blowing your nose got the most posts today. My son has been blowing air through his nose the last few days. We laugh at him when he does it so he keeps doing it since it gets our attention. Not sure when they are supposed to master this task. I haven't seen it marked as a milestone in anything I have read. Maybe you should ask your pedi. JK. It's funny the things that excite us as Mommys.

Re: Poll: How old was your DC when....
I remember a kid in my 3rd grade class who didn't know how to blow his nose. The teacher had to show him....
Obviously, I think that's a lot later than most kids
She's kind of got the concept of blowing but not the full idea yet.
But at least she lets us suck it out now with the sucker.
LOL!!!!!!!!! Paige has a cold right now too :-(

Ds is just starting that lean in and weak try.
This began BEFORE the blowing....lol

Is THIS what excites us as mothers? LMAO!
Guess this is what mother hood is all about because I called my Mom and Dad as soon as she did it!
