I work at a hospital in the brain injury rehab unit....
this is a video one of my patient's grandpa's made about his accident and information on rear-facing car seats. he wanted to share their story and potentially help others...
don't most rear facing seats only go up to 35 lbs?
"There is a powerful movement toward extended rear facing children. One major obstacle is that car seat manufacturers currently don't offer RF car seats past 35lbs in the USA. They do in many European countries such as Sweden, Denmark and Finland. RF car seats as high as 55lbs! "

Th?convertible?seat is 50 inches and 55 lbs. Now I get the reasons but I doubt DS will be rear facing until he is 3. I will keep him that way until he is too big to face backwards. He's fine now and 32 inches, so I think he'll stay that way for a while,?

Yeah, the more I read about rear-facing, the more I'm convinced that we'll just keep DS that way as long as possible (well, as long as possible in this country, right?). And frankly, I have to say I trust the gov'ts in Scandanavia to be a bit more up on safety for kids in general, hee hee.

And seats not manufactured in the US are illegal here. I think the US car seat companies need to get on the ball here. I have HUGE babies. My DS is 18 months and weighs 34 lbs 4 oz and is 36 inches tall. My DD is only 3 months old and weighs 16 lbs already.

DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
I have a question. We JUST turned my 17mo old around because, according to the Britax website, there is a rear-facing height limit and she exceeds it.
My pedi said to keep her rear-facing until her knees are up to her ears, which I wanted to do. But, she's past the heigh limit, so we flipped her.
She's under the weight limit, but too tall.
What about the height limitations??
Thanks for posting. I forwarded the link to people I know with babies.
To the pp about legs not fitting properly - I'd rather my DS break his leg in a car accident than his neck.
