I have made this on the stove and in the crockpot. When I used the crockpot, I browned the meat, the garlic, and the onions before I put it in.
3 Alarm Chili from UC Berkeley's The Wellness Kitchen Cookbook
Brown 1 lb ground turkey, 1 large, finely chopped onion and 5 cloves of garlic in 1Tbsp olive oil.
Add 2 cans/bottles of finely chopped jalapenos, 2 chopped bell peppers, ! Tbsp of chili powder, 1 1/2 tsp of cumin, 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper, I cup of dark beer, 1 can of crushed tomatoes, and 1 1/4 cups of canned pinto beans, drained and rinsed, to the crockpot. Add meat mixture.
I cooked the chili for a couple of hours on high. I also doubled the recipe and added a can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, which added a nice smokey flavor.
