ear drum may rupture?

DD has an ear infection.  The dr. said it is bubbled and *** and could burst.  Doesn't seem too concerned gave me meds. and drops in case it bursts.  Has anyone had DC's ear drum burst?  Sounds bad to me, but they say it usually heals?  UGH!  She showed no signs of ear pain and only had a fever for 1 day and 1/2.  I insisted they see her today, even though her fever is gone since late last night.

  • LOL!  I think I typed an extra s when I wrote pusy which is a made up word anyway.
  • i have had a ton of ear infections and have had my eardrum rupture with a few really bad ones. It's not a huge deal. It feels like a pop or release of pressure and then oozes pus for a while. are they drops numbing drops or antibiotic?

the numbing drops are super great!

  • yep, one of mine's eardrum has burst twice. it actually helps them feel better, as it relieves the pressure. but it hurts at the time, i'd guess. when that happens, we do oral antibiotics and drops. fun stuff.

it only really becomes a problem if it happens over and over and over again.

  • My older DD had a burst ear drum once and it really is not a big deal.  If she is on meds, she should be fine.  My odler DD never reacts when she has ear infections and I only noticed it due to the stuff coming out of the ear.
